Originals vs. Prints: Which Is Right for You?
Share
One of the questions I’m asked most often is, “What’s the difference between an original and a print?”
Both are beautiful ways to live with art, and each brings something a little different to your space. The real question isn’t which one is better—it’s which one fits you (or the person you’re gifting).
Originals: One-of-a-Kind Pieces
An original is the real thing—the actual painting created by my hands and paintbrushes in my studio. Every brushstroke, texture, and layer exists only once.
No two originals are ever the same. Even paintings that start from a similar place end up becoming something entirely their own.
Why people love originals:
They carry the artist’s hand. You can almost picture the brushstrokes and feel the heart in every detail. There’s something deeply personal about knowing the piece you’re living with exists nowhere else in the world.
Best for:
Collectors, sentimental gift-givers, or anyone who loves the idea of owning something truly one-of-a-kind.
Minis included:
A new set of mini paintings will be coming soon. These are originals as well—just on a smaller, more giftable scale.

Prints: Beautiful & Accessible
Prints are high-quality reproductions of my original paintings or photography. Some of my paintings are done as reproductions on giclee paper and some are on canvas. For paintings that were originally painted on canvas like my oil paintings and acrylics, I absolutely love rolled canvas.
They also allow more than one person to enjoy my work, making it easy to bring art into your home in a flexible way—often in a larger size than the original.
Why people love prints:
They’re more affordable, versatile, and easy to style in almost any space. Whether it’s a gallery wall, a cozy corner, or a thoughtful gift, prints fit in effortlessly.
Best for:
Anyone who wants to live with art they love without the commitment of a one-of-a-kind original.
Bonus:
Prints are easy to ship and make wonderful gifts for birthdays, housewarmings, and—let’s be honest—the holidays.
So… Which Is Right for You?
If you love the idea of owning something deeply personal, an original may feel like the perfect fit.
If you’re looking for something flexible, budget-friendly, and just as beautiful, a print is a wonderful choice.
The truth is, there’s no wrong answer. Many collectors have both. Minis can be a lovely entry point into owning original artwork, while prints make it easy to fill your walls with pieces that feel like home.
